Did I receive the wrong size air cushion? I inflated the cushion but the ball doesn't fill the upholstery. What do I do now?

Large Air Cushions are BLUE. Small Air Cushions are CORAL. Customers report being often surprised by how much the Air Cushions stretch, especially upon first inflation. Please notice the critical valve / zipper alignment in the inflation guide video linked here. This is required regardless of what pump is used. When you finish inflating, you should only have to close the zipper 2-3 inches. If you attempt to close the full length zipper against high pressure, it is likely to tear the fabric or stitching.

A spoon is the best tool for removing the plug. A suggestion with the hand pump is to not push all the way to the very end of range of the pump. Try to keep the pumping action in the 20-80% range of the pump’s total travel and it should not get stuck. When your arm needs a break, cover the back of the pump to prevent air leaking out while you catch a breather.

When you inflate too much, you won’t hurt the upholstery cover, and it will become so hard when you sit down it will feel uncomfortable. Watch the inflation video up above demonstrating inflating until the ball fully fills the upholstery and then testing it with body weight before inserting the plug. If you inflate too much and it becomes uncomfortable when you sit down, well, that’s pretty easy to let out some air. =)

I don’t know if I should get the small or the large Venn Air Chair - which one is better for me?

This will depend on your body size and how you intend to use the chair. Both the large and small size Air Chairs are easily customizable for different heights. Simply inflate the chair more for a higher seat, and release air through the valve for a seat that’s lower to the floor.

  • The large (65cm diameter) is a “task chair” intended for upright sitting at a standard height desk. Generally, we recommend the large size for people with a height of 5’1 and greater.

  • The small (55cm diameter) is a “lounge chair” that sits at sofa height. It is excellent for exercises and stretches because it keeps you lower to ground with more stability nearby. We also recommend the small for “lounging” at a coffee table, or to rest your legs on while you’re sitting on a sofa/armchair. For desk work, we highly recommend the small size for children and adults under 5’1. Small children love the small size!

Both the small and large size will work well as a “fitball” you can stretch out on or use as a prop during strength exercises.

What are Venn Air Chairs made out of and how are they made? What makes them different from a regular physioball?

The Venn Air Chair features a multi-layered laminate construction with a layer of durable, high-density foam, a layer of temperature balancing felt, and a layer of upholstery grade fabric all wrapping an inner air cushion core. Compared to a physioball, which is only meant for exercise and is hidden away when not in use, a Venn Air Chair is a beautiful piece of upholstered furniture that is meant to be seen and used frequently in your living spaces for a more movement rich lifestyle, not just designated exercise times.

Fabric types differ between products and are listed on individual product page. If you have questions on the fabric of a specific product, please email us at contact@venndesign.co with the product name/link and we’ll be happy to share more details about the fabric with you.

Venn products are made to last with a 5 year warranty and are manufactured in Dallas, TX, USA by skilled craftspeople with decades of experience making a competitive wage. We use the best Juki Home Sewing upholstery-grade sewing machines and efficient, lean business practices. Venn products are priced fairly reflecting the materials and labor that go into them.

What’s the weight limit for a Venn Air Chair?

The Venn Air Chair’s air cushion has a 300lb rated weight limit. We have many customers who are 250+ lbs who report 0 issues. That said, a Venn Air Chair should be treated as a piece of furniture. We don’t recommend jumping on it with the full force of your body weight like you might during a gym workout.

What are Venn’s environmental practices?

At Venn, we’re especially waste conscious and have gone to great pains to size everything appropriately so we use every scrap of fabric and material possible. For instance, in the Sitting Cushions, we use Pendleton Wool trimmings from their mill ends as part of our stuffing and filler (otherwise a throw-away for them). And what scrap fabric we do produce is chopped up and recycled with our fabric suppliers.

Whenever possible, we source materials from suppliers who are as close as possible to our Dallas, TX, facility so we don’t waste needlessly on shipping large rolls of foam across the country. Efficient supply chain logistics and Made In America by skilled craftspeople and sewers means you get top quality and craftsmanship and you bolster local economies.

How often should I add air to my Venn Air Chair?

Your Venn Air Chair’s air cushion will stretch after the first inflation and may need additional air in the first week to maintain your desired level of firmness. Most Venn chairs need additional air every 1-2 months (approximately 10-15 pumps). A set of keys works well to pry up the edge of the plug. There is no need to ever fully unzip the zipper as the air valve should stay aligned where the zipper closes.
